COACH TOMEKIA REED’S NEXT BOLD MOVE
Tomekia Reed’s contract with Jackson State expires on March 31. Athletic director Ashley Robinson’s office has yet to indicate a potential contract extension for the SWAC Coach of the Year, which isn’t unusual.
Following Geno Auriemma’s endorsement of Coach Reed during his postgame interview, many expect a flood of interview requests for Coach Reed.
She will interview and negotiate from a position of strength with Jackson State or any other school interested in her services.
On HBCU Legends, I mentioned that Tulane and Clemson would be enticed by her coaching style, recruiting proficiency, and talent development. Better yet, her personality and bold presentation are excellent appeals to athletic directors, alumni, boosters, and corporate sponsors.
Tomekia Reed may have a promising coaching future in women’s basketball, whether at the collegiate or pro level – even broadcasting.
